Bitmap Monogram
Before modern vector typefaces, bitmaps were used to create digital images and texts. Within this project, grids were composed of vertical and horizontal boxes only. This design incorporates an ornamental feature while staying within the guidelines and creates a contrasted look between the thick and thin strokes. The inspiration was drawn from certain characteristics of Gothic-style typefaces.
Original
Revised
The style of the letters changed completely from the early stages. The original monogram highlighted the negative aspect of a 3d text rather than the text itself. The revision better grasps the “word-form” aspect of the project and has a typeface that is more legible and balanced.
